Training Description

The Highfield Level 3 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to respond effectively to workplace emergencies. This course provides participants with the ability to manage a range of life-threatening and minor injuries until professional medical help arrives. Through a blend of theory, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants will learn to assess incidents, provide CPR, use an AED, and manage casualties suffering from bleeding, shock, burns, fractures, and other common workplace injuries.

Training Objectives:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the role of a first aider — including responsibilities, infection control, and the importance of communication in emergencies.
  • Assess an incident and ensure the safety of themselves, bystanders, and the casualty.
  • Provide primary care to casualties who are unresponsive and not breathing, including performing CPR and using an AED.
  • Administer first aid to casualties who are choking, bleeding, in shock, or suffering from minor injuries such as cuts, grazes, or burns.
  • Respond appropriately to a range of workplace emergencies, demonstrating calm and effective decision-making under pressure.
  • Maintain and record first aid incidents in line with workplace procedures and legal requirements.
