Description/Objectives

The CompEx Ex01-Ex04 Gas and vapours qualification has been developed for electrical and instrument technicians working in hazardous locations where gases or vapours can form explosive atmospheres. Practical “hands-on” training and assessment take place in a realistic simulated environment, giving attendees a comprehensive learning experience that is directly related to a true industry setting.  This qualification focuses on the minimum specifications identified in IEC60079:0, IEC60079:10.1, IEC60079:14 and IEC6007

Target Audience

This qualification is suitable for practicing electrical or instrument technicians who are involved in installing, inspecting and maintaining certified Ex electrical equipment in locations where gases and vapours can potentially create a hazardous area.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The CompEx Ex01-04 Gas and Vapours qualification at iSkills is a globally recognized, hands-on certification for electrical and instrument technicians working in explosive atmosphere environments. Delivered over five intensive in-person days in a realistic simulated hazardous area, candidates gain practical competence in Ex installation, inspection, and maintenance — directly aligned to IEC 60079:0, IEC 60079:10.1, and IEC 60079:14.

WHO SHOULD JOIN?

This course is designed for:

  • Practicing electrical and instrument technicians installing, inspecting, or maintaining Ex equipment in gas/vapour hazardous locations
  • Electrical and instrument engineers with relevant practical field experience
  • Contractors where CompEx certification is a contractual or site-access requirement
  • Candidates who have completed CompEx Foundation (EXF) and are ready to progress

This is a hands-on technical qualification — prior electrical or instrumentation experience is essential.

COURSE METHODOLOGY

The course runs over five in-person days, combining instructor-led theory with extensive practical training in a purpose-built simulated hazardous area environment.

  • 3 days of guided learning
  • 2 days of practical assessment (Assessment is undertaken using both practical assessments and an online examination that covers the four separate CompEx units.)
