CompEx Foundation plus (ExF+)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The CompEx Foundation Plus (ExF+) course at iSkills is a structured, internationally recognized qualification for personnel working in potentially explosive environments governed by the NEC 500 Class and Division system. Built around the North American hazardous area classification framework, it combines theoretical knowledge with formal examination — ensuring candidates leave verifiably competent.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion, candidates will be able to:

WHO SHOULD JOIN?

  • Practicing or newly qualified electrical and instrument operatives in NEC 500-classified locations
  • Electrical and instrument engineers with practical experience seeking formal NEC 500 certification
  • Site supervisors and team leads overseeing Class/Division-classified operations
  • Contractors regularly deployed to North American standard HAZLOCs
  • Candidates with prior CompEx certification extending into the NEC 500 framework

Basic electrical or Ex knowledge expected. An employer-sponsored letter is required where applicable.

Option 1 — Classroom + Online Exam

  • 1.5 days instructor-led training at an iSkills facility + 0.5-day online theory examination.

Option 2 — Blended Learning + Online Exam

Self-paced online study + 0.5-day assessment, taken at an authorized center or remotely via iSkills CompEx centre, subject to prior arrangement.

Both pathways are fully accredited and lead to the same CompEx certificate.
