The IECEx 009 — Design Electrical Installations in Explosive Atmospheres course at iSkills equips experienced electrical engineers and tradesmen with competence to classify hazardous areas, analyse explosion risks, and design compliant electrical installations aligned to the IEC 60079 series. The course includes a review of each candidate’s work and training records.

Classroom Training + Formal Assessment

1.5 days of instructor-led theory training covering hazardous area classification, equipment selection, explosion protection design, and documentation — followed by a 0.5-day formal assessment. Includes a review of each candidate’s work and training records.

Theory only — no practical elements. Assessment points integrated throughout.

WHO SHOULD JOIN?

  • Experienced electrical tradesmen with hands-on hazardous area installation experience
  • Electrical engineers designing Ex electrical systems and installations
  • Professionals with minimum 3 years Ex installation experience seeking formal IECEx design certification
  • Candidates who have completed IECEx 001 advancing within the IECEx competence framework

IECEx Module 001 must be attained before this module can be awarded.
